Iron Maiden, Cluj, 16.08.10

AAAAA!!!!!!!!! I SAW MAIDEN LIVE, I FREAKING SAW IRON MAIDEN!!!!!

They were incredible! Since they were in Transylvania, they used Transylvania as the intro (or so I've been told, I just got lost from my boyfriend and I was frantically looking for him in the crowd so I kinda missed the beginning), they continued with with Wicker man, then Ghost of the navigator and then the rest of the regular setlist.

Right during the first small break, someone threw some sausages on the stage because last time they came here, Bruce said they loved the Romanian sausages. He obviously didn't remember (from all the places they've been...), so he was very surprised and amused. "sausages? SAUSAGES? sausages...". He was full of energy as always, I'm still amazed by how much he can run and not pant for a single second and not miss a single note. And it's not like he's in his 30's anymore. Gosh, that man is incredible. And he has an amazing voice that sounded crystal clear, he was just perfect. And the rest of the band was a great match for him, what I like about them is that even though Bruce steals the show, all the other members are enchantingly unique and you could easily watch either of them throughout the concert and still be fascinated. They all rock and their age didn't show for a second, they were just like in the old days. Awesome, just awesome.

The setting was in good old Maiden tradition with lots of stuff on the stage and with backgrounds of Eddie in every possible form, changing to match each song. And speaking of Eddie, at some point an alien Eddie appeared on the stage, stole Steve's bass (I think it was Steve's) and proceeded to fight with the other guitarists, who were hitting him with their guitars :)) The crowd sang loudly Fear of the dark, which for me was probably the highlight of the night, then Iron maiden was next and then went backstage for a short time (I loved that they didn't take long in coming back on the stage, they seemed incredibly down to earth for such a huge band). They finished with Number of the beast, Hallowed be thy name (yup, that was my highlight of the night) and Running free. It was incredible. I was soaking wet from how much I jumped and headbanged and screamed and cheered, they have an amazing energy that they are able to send to the furthest corner of the crowd. And Bruce... oh Bruce *vows everlasting love to Bruce and his voice and his stage presence*

Oh yeah, and they obviously couldn't help themselves in confusing locations, like each big band that comes to Romania. Bruce: "scream for me Bucharrrrrromaniaaa". Ooops. At least they didn't mistake us with Budapest like the tradition is....
