After years of waiting for them, I finally saw
Blind Guardian and it was sooo awesome! The guys really enjoyed themselves and
they were so much fun to watch and listen to, it was a great concert. The crowd
was amazing, we chanted and sung and clapped and cheered throughout the entire
concert and between almost every song we’d start screaming “Guardian, Guardian”
and the only way they could get us to stop was to start the next song :)) They
didn’t sing And then there was silence
as I had hoped, but they sang Wheel of
time (which was one of the highlights for me) and I loved how the setlist
was filled with songs with lots of choirs you could sing along to. Of course The bard’s song was incredible with the
audience singing, it gave me goosebumps. I had waited for so long to be able to
sing this song with them!
Sadly I think Hansi is starting to lose his amazing voice, he sang almost only the lower harmonies and the few times he tried to sing higher, he had some problems and his voice slipped (and I’ve noticed that in most of the recordings on this tour and even in that little documentary about the making of new album, he seemed to struggle and put a lot of effort into singing). But he was such a sweetheart and he’s so down to earth and… normal. He doesn’t look and act like a rock star at all and I love that about him. He looks like a simple guy who’s genuinely happy to play music with his friends and not like he’s in front of hundreds of people, but like he’s singing for a bunch of friends. He is *so* nice. And the way he can get the audience to sing along and scream is great too, his enthusiasm and good mood are contagious. And so are the other guys, just simple people playing music without pyros and complicated poses and acting cool. It was really pleasant to see them and to see so many people being so excited about their music and singing and screaming their lungs out for them. And since they promised to be back (and they’d better be), I can’t wait to see them again. I had a lot of fun!
