This is going to be a very short diary entry, as it sadly was a very short concert. After having tickets to Godsmack three years ago when they cancelled the show in Romania,
this time we were most anxious to see them. But when bad luck strikes in our
family, it strikes good. Two bands in, 30 minutes to the band we were waiting
for, my husband started feeling horribly sick and we had to go home and wait
for another chance to see Godsmack live. But at least we got to see the two
opening bands, so it wasn’t a completely missed event.
Terrana was slightly boring, playing a clean classic hard rock, with infinite
instrumental solos (especially drums, as expected) and with some lame jokes in
between. Everything seemed very artificial, like a bad stand up comedy show and
since the music wasn’t mindblowing either, 90 minutes turned out to be too
long.
The delight of the evening (and the band that
pretty much saved the night for us) was Dirtyshirt.
I had wanted to see them for a long time and they were exactly as I pictured
them: fun loving, kooky, happy, bouncy and very very eclectic. With a mix
between System of a down, Romanian folklore and nu-metal, they fired up the
atmosphere and made the crowd go from mosh pits to horas to dancing and back to
mosh pits. They gathered quite a lot of laughs and put a huge smile on most of
our faces and it was such a joy to see a band that respects its origins, has a
message and stands up for something, but at the same time doesn’t take itself
too seriously and loves jokes and goofiness.
